There was a 300 lb woman once who called a naturopath and told him, “My doctor’s are killing me!” She was tired, her arms were huge, and her legs were piano-sized. Upon taking her nutritional history, she confessed that she loved white bread and ate it daily.
She mentioned her spiritual enjoyment of helping many people through bible study. Pulling out her bible from under the coffee table, the naturopath turned to Genesis 1:29 which basically states that fruits and vegetables will be your food.
Researchers at the Cancer Council in Victoria, Australia found an association between type 2 diabetes risk factor and foods evaluated according to the glycemic index. Lower glycemic index ratings for foods such as most fruits and vegetables produces a slower absorption rate in the body’s blood sugar levels. Increased glycemic index ratings for processed baked goods and starchy foods quickly absorb into the blood spiking blood sugar levels.
Continuously consuming foods that have high glycemic index ratings results with an insensitivity to insulin. This is the precursor to type 2 diabetes.
Researchers analyzed medical records and eating habits of 36,700 people over the course of 4 years. The participants in the study ranged from 40 to 69 years old at the beginning of the study; none of them had been diagnosed diabetes. (Journal Diabetes Care)
More than 360 of the participants were identified with type 2 diabetes at the end of the study. It was confirmed that the consumption of high glycemic index foods were directly related to an increased risk of diabetes. Specifically, eating white bread on a regular basis was found to be a cause of diabetes. Stop eating white bread and replace it with lower glycemic index rated foods.
Diabetes is high blood sugar, which is caused by eating to much fruit and starch after 2pm. Fruit should be consumed early in the day to give you energy to burn. Always eat breakfast with your biggest meal being in the middle of the day and a light dinner.
Diabetes has increased over 700% in the last 50 years. This gives rise to two facts… Diabetes is not genetic because this increase has occurred within one generation. And something has gone very wrong and needs to be changed.
That something is DIET.
Things can be difficult to prove when they’re true. But it’s not difficult to prove when they’re false. The standard diet recommendation from the American Dietetic Association, the American Heart Association, and the American Diabetes Association has been to increase complex carbs and reduce saturated fats.
“Complex” carbs such as potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, and cereal rapidly turns into sugar and the excess sugar is turned into saturated fatty acids. Following these recommendations has caused diabetes and obesity to skyrocket turning into one of the worst epidemics in the world. It’s time to try something else.
